STEP viewer. Open it. Inspect it.
Open a STEP or STP file, explore the model and check its dimensions. All in your browser.
Your model goes here.
Choose your file or try the original sample below. No installation or sign-up.
01 / HOW IT WORKS
From file to a clearer view.
- 01
Open your file
Choose, drop or paste your STEP / STP file. All three input methods use the same local checks.
- 02
Look from every angle
Drag to rotate and scroll to zoom. Use the front, top and right views to examine the shape, then reset the camera when needed.
- 03
Check the essentials
Read the imported solid count and overall X, Y and Z dimensions. Clear the file when you are done or open another one.
02 / TRY IT YOURSELF
A real file. A result you can check.
This original Lovcad plate is 80 × 50 × 8 mm with four Ø6 mm through-holes. Open the STEP file here and compare the outline and overall dimensions.
Original public sample. Your uploads are never added to this gallery.

03 / ABOUT THE FORMAT
A CAD model, beyond a thumbnail.
STEP is widely used to exchange CAD geometry between design tools. Unlike a screenshot, it carries 3D geometry you can inspect from different angles. This viewer turns supported solids into an interactive preview while keeping overall dimensions available.
What this viewer supports
STEP and STP solid models up to 32 MiB and 2,000 solids. The converted geometry must also fit a 16 MiB internal limit, so file size alone does not guarantee a model will open. Complex models may exceed the time or memory budget.
Surfaces and wires without solids are not displayed. Original part names, colours, assembly hierarchy and feature history are not restored. This viewer does not edit or certify a model for manufacturing.
04 / QUESTIONS
Before you open a STEP file.
Is the STEP viewer really free?
Yes. You can open files, explore the model and read its dimensions without an account, subscription or credits.
Does my STEP file leave my device?
No. Your selected file is read and processed in this browser. The page downloads its CAD engine and public samples, but does not upload your model. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the current file from the tool.
Can I open an STP file as well as STEP?
Yes. .stp and .step are filename extensions for the same exchange format. You do not need to rename or convert the file first.
Are the displayed dimensions the original CAD dimensions?
The overall bounds come from the imported solid geometry and are shown in millimetres. They are not point-to-point measurements or drawing tolerances. If the declared units are unknown, check a known dimension before relying on the result.
Why might a STEP file fail to open?
The file may be damaged, contain only surfaces, or exceed the solid, memory or conversion limits. Try exporting only the required solid parts from your CAD application. A failure is shown explicitly; it is not a successful empty model.
Can I paste a file from my computer?
Copy a file in your file manager, then paste here. Your browser must expose the clipboard as a file; a copied path or text will not open a model.
